June 28th, 2024: One-Of-A-Kind Prints Using Water Soluble Materials w/ Gláucia Mir
TIME: 10:00 to 3:00 - with a 1/2 hour lunch break.

Join us for this fun exploration of the possibilities of low tech printmaking! In this class you will:
Use an assortment of water-soluble drawing and painting materials, as well as synthetic printing plates.
Discover how any source of imagery can be used, including photos, drawings and previous artwork.
Learn how one-of-a-kind mono prints, and multiples, can be printed both by hand and by using a press.
Come away from this printmaking class with several prints that are stand alone or can be worked on with other media.
All levels of learners are welcome!

GLÁUCIA MIR
Brazillian born mixed media artist Gláucia Mir fell in love with printmaking 6 years ago. Gláucia explores the juxtaposition of city and country, as well as the ways different media play together, letting serendipity and the process of artmaking surprise her.
You can often find Gláucia at local coffee shops, drinking a cortado and urban sketching her food, and the people and places around her. In addition to this daily drawing practice, Gláucia is an arts educator who has taught a wide range of mediums to creatives of all ages.
Gláucia spent her childhood in São Paulo, Brazil and her teens and twenties in New York City. She studied illustration at the Fashion Institute of Technology and grew a passion for art and the city. Later, while living in Bucks County, PA, she developed a love of the countryside. Gláucia spent time in Florida raising her boys, and earned a Masters in Art Education from the University of Florida. She now calls Black Mountain, NC home.
