TIME: 10:00 to 4:00 both days with a 1/2 hour lunch break.

This 2 day printmaking workshop will be taught by Guest Printmaker & Educator Eric William Carroll. To learn about Eric and his printmaking please scroll to the Bio at the bottom of this listing.

In this workshop you will harness the power of light in combination with traditional intaglio printing. Printmaking with solar plates (or photopolymer gravure) is a simple and safe alternative to traditional etching and allows the printer to combine digital photographic techniques alongside their traditional printmaking skills.

  • This workshop will cover the entire solar plate process from exposure to processing & printing.

  • This workshop is geared for students with no experience with solar plates, but some printing experience is recommended.

  • Materials needed for this Solar Plate workshop are covered by the included materials fee.

Workshop limited to 8 participants.

ERIC WILLIAM CARROLL

Eric is an artist making work that combines his interests in science, nature, and the history of photography. Carroll’s work has been shown widely and has been included in exhibitions at the New Orleans Museum of Art, Aperture Foundation and the Museum of Contemporary Photography among others. Carroll has participated in residencies with the MacDowell Colony, Rayko Photo Center and the Blacklock Nature Sanctuary, and was the winner of the 2012 Baum Award for Emerging Photographers. After a nearly decade-long stint as a full-time professor, Carroll relocated to Asheville, North Carolina to focus on his creative practice.
