Interested in pushing the medium of cyanotype into sculptural, fiber-based and other experimental forms? Then don’t miss this inspiring printmaking workshop!

In this Cyanotype Workshop you will:

  • Go through the process of preparing and sensitizing stone, wood, and fiber-based materials in order to create unique, light-sensitive objects.

  • Explore the preparation of cyanotype chemistry, various coating techniques, and proper exposure using both natural and artificial light sources.

  • Bring your own materials to experiment with, and use sample materials that will be provided.

  • Create a number of cyanotype prints on assorted surfaces.

  • Discover a whole new dimension of printmaking!

  • Learn skills in this class can be translated to the home studio with minimal compromise.

  • Materials Fee of $25 to be paid to instructor at start of class.

It’s recommended that participants have previous experience working with cyanotypes or have already taken Eric’s Introduction to Cyanotype workshop.

ERIC WILLIAM CARROLL

Eric is an artist making work that combines his interests in science, nature, and the history of photography. Carroll’s work has been shown widely and has been included in exhibitions at the New Orleans Museum of Art, Aperture Foundation and the Museum of Contemporary Photography among others. Carroll has participated in residencies with the MacDowell Colony, Rayko Photo Center and the Blacklock Nature Sanctuary, and was the winner of the 2012 Baum Award for Emerging Photographers. After a nearly decade-long stint as a full-time professor, Carroll relocated to Asheville, North Carolina to focus on his creative practice.
